And this isn't directed at you, anyone wanting more knowledge about the subject (and with access to the MSDN library) should check out Technical Articles/Component Object Model. OLE is a subject beneath that, and includes a paper "What OLE Is Really About by Kraig Brockschmidt, which gives the history and background.
