RI builder chokes after .DBC, .DBFs moved

I moved a database container and associated tables to a new directory.

Now, when attempting to access the referential integrity settings for a persistent relationship from within the database designer (via the RI builder), I get endless error messages saying "table so-and-so does not exist", where the pathname of the tables in the error messages are fully qualified and reflect their old locations.

Everything else seems ok. I can double-click on the table
headers in the database designer to browse the tables, and
VFP can find the tables no problem.

The RI code itself appears to be path-independant.

Would anyone know:

1) The source of this problem.
2) How to fix the problem in my current database
3) How to avoid the problem the next time I move a
database and its associated tables?

(Many gassho's of appreciation.)
