I've been attending Devcon since 1989. It's a great place to meet people who then become resources. You also get to see some of the latest stuff from MS, you get exposure to different ways of doing things, from some of the top developers and exposure to much more. However, you will only learn by doing and failing. Take the trip, then go get some training, then spend 12 hours a day on the keyboard for 6 months.
