Hi Chris -

DevCon is definitely a great place to learn concepts and to meet the communtity. However, like others have said, I agree that you don't walk out of the sessions knowing HOW to implement the ideas, only that it IS possible. I find that for me, there is a large gap between understanding the concept and actually being able to implement it.

One of the ways EPS Software has tried to bridge this gap is with the Double Impact Tours (www.eps-software.com/doubleimpact/). Because of the small class sizes, there is more one-on-one interaction between the attendees and the speakers. If you are at an intermediate level and interested in building Object Oriented systems, n-tier design, XML and Web Applications, this might be a good alternative for you. The New Orleans Double Impact Event is a 2 day post conference event with an additional/optional third day devoted soley to using West Wind Web Connection and Visual WebBuilder.
