>>I want to create an application that will allow me to Print to a file as a PDF format. My question is When I distribute the application do I need to also distribute the Adobe Acrobat Application or are there just run time libraries I distribute? I know the reader is free, I am talking about the part that creates the PDF file.

>Rick Strahl had an excellent article (as usual) on this subject in the March, 2000 issue of FoxPro Advisor. As I recall, the Adobe Acrobat Writer costs about $200 when purchased in the full package. There are also some issues regarding versions of both the Writer and Windows.
To use Acrobat, each client machine has to have it installed, and it cost about 200 a pop. But there several alternatives (none of which I have personal experience with). The best looking one I have seen is made by Amyuni
www.amyuni.com. It exposes the creator through a COM interface, and they have a reasonable distribution license option. Adobe doesn't even address the issue, and its programmatic interface is clumsy at best, unbearable at worst.
