We have a Tandem mainframe computer running NonStop SQL server. We have an ODBC driver that runs through DAL to give me access to the tables in the mainframe database from VFP or VB. We haven't tried to use it from a Windows machine until recently. BTW, everything works fine on the Mac, even using VFP 3.0 on the Mac. DAL provides a tool to talk directly to the DAL process on the Tandem without going through ODBC, it works fine. When I use ODBC however, it drops the last field on a "SELECT * FROM" and each successive row gets slid over by one field. It will then generally crash with C00005 error. If I manually do a CREATE SQL VIEW REMOTE with every fieldname it works. This means that I cannot use the View Designer, which is a pain. Also Visual Basic is worse, it won't let me do anything it just gives an ODBC error and that's it. Any suggestions? I am working with the DAL people, but so far he hasn't helped much.
