Title:
Network Utilization, Invalid Seek Offset Error Reading File
Okay, so this isn't a specific VFP question but everyones been so helpful in the past I thought I would see what knowledge abounds about novell networks.
We have a large client using our VFP app with some very inconsistent "network" problems. The app is a VFP 5.0 banking database of approx 27MG. Its quite robust, both in functionality and front end graphical interface. The app seems to run fine at other clients of 50-100 users on both NT and Novell networks. However, at a client with 200+ users the app experiences problems with Error reading file and Invalid Seek Offset on a regular basis. The workstations are all Win95b running the vfp.exe locally and attaching to a novell 4.11 server through the novell client 32 3.1SP2. We beleive that the errors are related to network connectivity but cannot figure out exactly how to test or decifer the problem.
What lead to this post is what happened this morning. The server that the app resides on stayed at a constant 90% utilization with only 1 user logged on! Does anyone have any thoughts? I'm afraid I'm in a battle of "its your network/no its your program" and I could use all the help I can get.
Thanks again for all the help.
