What i have to say probabilly won't help you, but i have a class like yours; the only difference is that i use to arrays that populate the combo.
Yes, i agree with: your columnwidths must be crazy, because they are assuming the widhts from the SELECT statement.
What i do is: at my method to populate the combo i have a parameter, like MYCOLWIDTH that accepts a string like "25, 100". These are my columns widths.
It's not a great solution, but that's how i solve it.
