I would say rename the files you know where changed ie if you keep a directory full of MP3 files you should be able to change them back and get on. This little sucker is nasty...but then again the moron left his handle in the code.

It sounded a bit extreme to me, but it was the only site I could find giving advice on clearing the problem. I would have done exactly what you suggested, rename files & restore, for script files giving them a thorough check first.

I have been very wary of all e-mail, since a very trusted person was hit by happy99.exe last year, consequently infecting me.

Fortunately (fingers-crossed, touching wood & all other such things), I haven't received any messages say "I LOVE YOU". Though it did take a lot of explaining to my wife that she should not open any mail with that title, however interested she was in who sent it to me !
