I suspect one good thing to come out of this will be an effort to spread viral notifications around the world much more quickly. I think we really could've averted much of this whole mess in many time zones if the Asians first infected had gotten the news out immediately, and server blocks/AV patches were implemented, created & distributed more quickly. Everyone was way behind on this one - but next time, hopefully the first time zone hit can alert everyone else faster. I'm sure some high-level security folks are working on this aspect as we speak...
