Well, as I mentioned somewhere in this thread, I'm a newbie to Blues music. So "my account" of B.B.'s name actually came from a good friend of mine who is a pretty good authority on Blues in particular (and music in general) (Barry will corroborate this, right Barry? < g >).

So, no, I've never been to Itta Bena, I've never even been to Mississippi at all.

>After reading your reply, I did a search and in serveral different places, some say your account of BB, others say my account. Who knows for positive. Besides, you can never trust the managment of radio stations in Memphis. Most of them say Jerry Lee Lewis lives in Memphis but he really lives across the state line in Desoto County. But the question still begs to be answered. Have you ever been to Itta Bena, Mississippi. I have. I was raised in Mississippi and my dad used to take me there to go cat fishing. He didn't like the blues though. Have you ever heard John Jonas. He's about 70 and is sooo good. I like the Austin Blues sound too, especially the Ian Moore Band (Driving Through Harlem).

>>Yeah, I don't know what that B. is either. But, the nickname "Blues Boy" was not something he came up with ... the management at a radio station in Memphis came up with it.

>>>Riley B. King, I forget what the B. stands for. But the real question is: Have you ever been Itta Bena? The initials BB in BB King stand for "Blues Boy", a nickname he gave himself over 40 years ago.
>>>
>>>>You want trivia? How about ... what is B.B. King's real name? (and yeah, I'm still cheating < g >)
