Do a search on "Migrating Legacy App & Dot Matrix Printing Issues". That's a name of a thread that answers precisely your question.

Basically you want to bypass windows' own epson driver and talk to the printer through the "generic/text" printer. That way you can send all the setup codes you want.

The only drawback of this is that you will need to code your reports with "?" and "??" instead of using vfp's report designer.
