Sure, it's going to hurt anyone who gets it to a greater or lesser extent. It was speculated that the bug might think .SCT files are script files, so the damage to Fox .SCTs is arguably an unfortunate side effect. Large drug companies tend to disclose side effects; I thought MS might too :-)

OTOH, Fox .SCTs are sometimes part of mission-critical, line-of-business apps. Or, developers might face loss of source code (and you and I both know there are some who don't back up regularly). I'd argue that both of these cases are more important than someone losing a few JPEGs...

As for VB and VC++, do these apps use extensions vulnerable to this bug?
