>>Just heard about a new one that is about a Mother's Day gift, something like that. Beware of absolutely everything, I am advising users...they are very receptive to being careful right now, at least.

>yupyup... beware is right. It took me awhile but I figured out how to change all my Outlook settings to not automatically open email on launch from systray and to not automatically mark it as "read" (which can supposedly auto run embedded html... dont know if that's true but I'm just a wee bit paranoid now so what the heck)

I heard over the weekend that Mother's Day Order variant fooled quite a few people who had actually placed orders - fairly clever title at the right time.

Even if this virus group required opening the attachment, the next level of viruses may be improved. I think the hacker actually tried to get it to work more automatically, according to the code, but it didn't work correctly, since apparently the virus could not be triggered without opening the attachment.

My (or "our") Outlook advice right now to users is about the same - do not do anything that might trigger a virus. Do not open emails automatically, do not mark anything as read. Use the Preview Pane to view before opening, but do not even set focus (click on) the Preview Pane if anything is suspicious looking. We are a bit paranoid too.
