I think I understand your problem of the control source not updating where the value is enter. I can think of two things.

First. in the valid method -
lc_controlsource = this.value
ThisFormSet.Refresh

or in the lost focus method
lc_controlsource = this.value
ThisFormSet.Refresh

I believe should be you the results you need.
