Have you eliminated using Web Connection for the part of the web site that prints the reports? In other words, use ASP if you must for most of the site, but handle the printing requests with a URL that scriptmaps to wc.dll and bypasses ASP.

You can keep several EXE's running and ready to respond that way, and get great response time. The WC management tools utilities are great, too.
