Thanks. That got rid of the error message. Unfortunately, opening the table again didn't solve my original problem. Since I'm pretty sure that moving the record pointer in the second table doesn't affect the first table, something else must be going on. Grrr...

BTW, I'm not expecting you to figure out what's wrong... Just ranting. :)
