If that's the extent of your needs, look at Visual AccountMate, which has a reasonable provision for importing text files for the payroll module, and a mechanism for importing Journal Entries to the GL as well. It uses either VFP native tables or a backend database server depending on the version you work with, and the formats for the native tables are fairly straightforward. The one thing not provided is the source code for the business object classes it uses - the interfaces are documented, but the internal behaviors are not easily adjusted, and changing control behaviors beyond instance programming requires you to hack VCX files to insert a subclass layer between their classes and the form. The import/export facilities provided by the base package are pretty easy to use, but may not directly meet your requirements in some cases - in my case, I had to do some programming to add customers created under an external OE system and to distribute shipping charges across multiple companies as imported from a common shipping system; not overwhelmingly difficult, but time-consuming to ensure that you understand the exact behaviors associated with certain fields in the system tables.
