An Introduction to Database Systems (Introduction to Database Systems, 7th Ed) from Addison-Wesley, which was updated late last year (I have a copy of 6th edition released in 1997 here at home.) BFD if he has to rely on out-of-date ref materials. I also have a copy of second edition from the mid-70s somewhere in the book boxes in the basement.
Hey, if you go back in time far enough, you'll find plenty of references that state categorically that the world is flat, and everything is made from admixtures of 4 basic elements - earth, air, fire and water. PS - you'd probably be condemned as a heretic if you insisted that you could ride on a flying machine.
