>>>As in baseball where good pitching will beat good hitting most days, the Stars, now quite healthy, and their stifling defense will beat team speed most days. Then, when there is a breakdown, The Eagle, 93% of the time, is there to clean up the mess. I predict many 2-to-1 games.
>>
>>Mark, and this applies to all sports, speed can be a killer if you don't have it. You can't teach or coach it or train it if it ain't there. Careful.
>>
>>>Hey, the 'hawks still have Amonte don't they? I am sure they can trade him for some more beans to add to their collection. :] Now, what did they get for Chelios? Pintos or Limas? :]
>>
>>Yes, the 'hawks still have Amonte (lone bright spot). But what did I do to you for you to treat me so cruelly? Before you had even posted a message with the birth announcement in your sig, I sent you a private of congratulations. And this is how you treat me. I hope that the White Sox murder the Rangers, so there!
>
>LOL! Yeah, I know speed kills. However, the Stars did beat the Avs last year in the West Finals with Defense over Speed and Waaa in goal.

Just don't count your pucks before you count goals.:-)

>Sorry about the 'hawks. My sympathies are definitely with the fans of teams with sorry mgmt. Remember we have the long suffering Mavericks, and, to a lesser extent, the Rangers. It could be worse, the 'hawks could have an owner like the NFL's Cardinals [Bidwell?]. Heck, Koziol has dreams of what might have been with the Florida Panthers and all the talent they traded away for beans.

Now Mark, let's not get into a litany of bad sports teams now. Sure we had the Bulls, but they're a total abberation of the Chicago sports tradition of team futility. The Bulls BTW, are owned by the same guy who owns the White Sox and if you know anything about their recent history, I wouldn't be too hopeful.

The Blackhawks last season had a stretch of 25+ seasons making the playoffs broken. Stanley Cups? Last one in 1961.

The Bears haven't made the post-season since 1994. Last Super Bowl - 1985 season (Super Bowl XX).

The Cubs have made the post-season in 1984, 1989, and 1998. Last trip to the World Series - 1945 (Even I wasn't born then).

The White Sox made one trip to the post-season in the 80's (1981, I think) one in the 90's (94 I think, the year before the strike). Last trip to the World Series - 1959.

The Bulls, 6 titles in 8 years, then completely gum up the works. And Phil Jackson looks like he's going to take the Lakers to the NBA title.
