Title:
Mouse Cursor Disappears
I am using Virtual Print Engine by Ideal Software. An expensive but excellent product for laying out print jobs on a myriad of different printers. If I "fire" things up from the click event of a command button by clicking on it with the mouse everything works OK. But if we use a keypress event to activate that same click event, the mouse cursor disappears when we get to their preview window. I reported this to Ideal Software and got the following response.
"If you just create a form and press any key, you will recognize that the mouse cursor becomes invisible. It appears that VFOX hides the mouse cursor immediately when a key is pressed. If the VPE preview is shown in that moment, the cursor remains invisible.
VFOX itself has an algorithm implemented to show the mouse again, when
it is moved. We can not implement such thing in VPE, because in other
environments (Visual Basic, VC++, Progress, etc. etc.) it then might cause unwanted results. It is definitely a weakness of VFOX to handle the cursor in such a way.
We tried to call SET CURSOR ON in VFOX before opening the preview, but
with no effect."
My questions are:
1. Are they correct?
2. Am I screwed?
3. Has anyone experienced a similar problem with other Active X controls?
4. Does anyone know of a workaround?
