>>>I have a client has a program that will let him export out to a Dbase III file format. There is going to be a couple of memo fields. Can I convert a Dbase III memo field to a VFP memo field. Dbase III memo field is .DBT. I do not have a copy of Dbase III.

>>Yep - just USE the file and COPY or SELECT, or append from it into a VFP table with similar fields but a Fox header format. Makes its own sauce.

>Years ago I had to import dBaseIV tables into VFP3. The import wizard had a problem with the carriage returns in the memo files. As I vaguely recall, it would ask me whether to convert them. If I said yes, it crashed. I learned to say no, and then strip out the CHR10 or whatever they were. I wonder if they ever cleaned that up.

I haven't checked recently; the last time I had to do that I simply USEd the dBARF file and then had to process the memo content prior to a save - the memo held a UUENCODEd version of a download from a Unix box; dBASE III did not like binary memo field content.
