This is what would I use to get the page count:

mpagetot = 0
REPORT FORM mpagetott to prompt NoConsole
mpagetot = _pageno
REPORT FORM stkval1 TO PRINTER PROMPT PREVIEW

Notice the 'TO PROMPT'.
This all works great. But remember that a text file will be created that you must delete after.
