1) Start a new account in a different bank than your personal one.
2) Have at least two accounts. #1 Receives monies and is your "public" account and #2 receives monies swept from
#1 on a daily basis. That way your exposure is one day's receipts only.

Some pretty good advice, I'd say. My initial starting point is to place these folks in contact with vendors, helping grease the skids between re knowledge of products (things like LED signs for the outside of institutions). Admittedly ANYTHING can be a scam, but ...

3) Should you ever physically visit the country (not recommended) I'd make sure that I had no personal information on
me other than what I needed.

I've done a fair amount of 3rd world travel, tho I still take your point; overconfidence is not warranted. A side note is how interesting it is to have what I guess one would call my 'physical profile' in said countries. Here, I largely forget about it. 3rd world? Well, let's say its interesting to be able to stop traffic so to speak. It's both an advantage and disadvantage, usually greatly helped if you at least somewhat speak the language.

4) I'd even go so far as to change phone numbers at home and make them all unlisted.

Even paranoids have enemies, or as a friend's grandfather told him 'just cause you're paranoid don't mean they ain't out to getcha!'

Paranoid? <g> Nahh.. Prudent. There's a lot of ..er.. unsavory types over there.

Hope things are going well.
