>>>Personally, if they added all this functionality into VB and VC++ I would welcome it. That way all development for all tiers could be handled in one development environment. But until that happens (and I don't think it will in VS7 although obviously I have no way of knowing for sure) we will continue to use it.

>>Good news Gary, they are...the technology is called WebForms, and is slated to be in VB 7, and some other VS 7 tools, I believe. I recall JVP stated in another message something to the effect that WebForms will effectively replace VID.

>Well, we'll just have to see. The term WebForms sounds like you'd use the VB form designer and then some wizard would convert it into HTML code. But will it be browser generic or IE dependent? And Microsoft's history with converting code from one language to another to make things easier isn't exactly exemplary. Hell, VID is supposed to be tightly tied to the web and look what a mess the DTCs create. What is the VB to ASP conversion going to look like? I'm not normally a pessimist, and I truly hope I'm wrong, but I'm not going to bet any money on WebForms being that much better.

The demonstration given at VBBITS showed that you selected a "Create WebForm" option. It will generate browser independent HTML code. Look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/nextgen/ for more info.
