There were a couple of bright spots. One of the women at the desk smiled a few times, and seemed to be friendly. Other than that, it was a cold, harsh experience that led me to think that these people working here must either hate their jobs or resent the people they're supposed to be serving.

How about a little warmth and compassion? Is that too much to ask from public servants?
