And Microsoft's history with converting code from one language to another to make things easier isn't exactly exemplary. Hell, VID is supposed to be tightly tied to the web and look what a mess the DTCs create. What is the VB to ASP conversion going to look like? I'm not normally a pessimist, and I truly hope I'm wrong, but I'm not going to bet any money on WebForms being that much better.

Yes, I believe it does do a conversion from forms into HTML. Browser independant...? I, too, will not hold my breath. Try getting some VBScript to run in a Netscape browser! :-)
I'm with you 100%. I've read/heard the hype about WebForms, now I just want to see them...and exactly what they do.
