There's a difference between "prevent others" and "allowing authorized users". If he really wants to "prevent others", IMO, it's a crazy idea. Totally opposite of one of the purposes of COM. If he wants to "allow authorized users", then he has to realize that *any* application the user runs could potentially access his DLL. If it is a security issue, then MTS or COM+ services is the way to go.
