In the documents section there is a comparison between VFP and VB they clearly state that VB COM has less CPU time.

Okay maybe you right. But if you are building a non web application it is not uncommon to use multithreaded features. I have always wanted to create sort of a treeview and when the user selects a node have it fill up a list. If I do that now they will have to wait for a very long time before the list is filled. If I could stick that code in a thread the code with be a lot less klunky.
