Just to amplify on what Nigel told you, when you don't recompile all files, only the files that have been modified since the last build are recompiled. VFP stores the necessary compiled code within the project and re-uses it when the Recompile All Files check box isn't checked. This behavior has been the same since at least version 2.x.
