We experienced a similar problem when the traffic on our site increased. We were able to improve our response time by freeing the tables from the dbc, changing our data connections to free tables, and removing the dbc. In the meantime, we are looking into SQL Server. If anyone has any ideas on why the dbc caused so much overhead, we would like to hear them.
