A JPG is two-tiered which requires two passes to fully evaluate the file. The plus side is that JPG offers a preview by looking at it after the first pass (lower resolution).

>How do you store the images in a general field (other than PCX,BMP)? I have not been able to figure out what "CLASS" to use in the "APPEND GENERAL fieldname FROM file CLASS....." statement. Or how to add a valid class for the GIF,JPG files.

General field can store any kind of binary information. Basically, you have to use specific OCX to handle this data on form/report and CLASS clause may be irrelevant here.
