You can create your DE class in a PRG and addobject it to the form in the Load event of the fomr.

When you say noticeably faster you use a relative term, so it depends on what your are opening and where the files are to find out exactly how much faster the DE will open the files from the USE commands. The DE is faster than the USE command, a little faster than USE AGAINwhen the table is already open.
