I just realized that this is happening because of my double click delay..DblClick is being triggered instead of Click...
To remedy this, I put:
this.Value = NOT this.Value

in my base checkbox class... I tried using NODEFAULT and/or RETURN .F., but it still toggled the value! The above line will make the checkbox behave as if it was clicked twice.
