Paul,
I had the cancel property set to true. This button is full-time cancel, I just want it to respond from clicking or while the program is in the middle of a lengthy update operation. Thx for your input.

I assume that your comment is telling me to do ON ESCAPE . .outside of the form. Since this is the only form in the project, I am not transitioning from form to form so my "program" is really only about two lines of code including DO FORM. I will try your suggestion and let you know. Thx for the help.

Thanks for the input. I don't intend to use ESC anywhere else. I will let you know if SOMETHING out of all of this works.
