Alex,
You sound like where I was few months ago. Anyway, I don't own a copy of Codebook 3.0 but I've looked into the framework a bit to see if I could use it for my use. I've decided not to use the framework for number of reasons.
First, if you're just starting with VFP from earlier version, you'll have your hands full just learning what VFP is all about without getting more confused trying to incorporate the framework (speaking from personal experience).
Second, I felt little insecure about introducing another "bug-capable" situation (I know VFP has bugs, my code will have bugs and I didn't know if these frameworks is 100% bug-free).
Lastly but most importantly, I didn't want to "tie-in" to a framework that I didn't have full control over its use and features and limitations. All this would be too much strain and I felt I'll probably never get anything done!
As to your question of seminars, I attended few in the past but I've decided never to attend another. I could of saved 100's of $ and time by buying few good book instead. With the different level of knowledge of the attendees, I was stuck getting answers from the instructor about questions I've already knew but somebody didn't.
Actually, the best source of help came from examining the sample Tastetrade application. There were few things I would do differently than how they did it but it got me through the first stage. The rest I owe it all to those individuals in this forum!!!
It's "my" world. You're just living in it.
