What else is new?

I'd like to know if there are alternatives for visually designing views.

While sometimes a quick sql statement is faster than putzing around pointing and clicking at fields, some other times, the opposite is also true.

If there aren't any alternatives for visually designing complex (>3 tables) views, could someone recommend a good reference (with lots of examples)? Sometimes I have problems joining tables and figuring whether to group all the "join's" and then all the "on's" or viceversa and know in advance what the outcome of a 10 line sql statement will be.
