Each file gets it's own preferences stored once you've opened the file, they all get the current default settings to start. If you editted a bunch of files before you set the show position as default, then those files will still all be positionless. You have to reset them individually.

How do I set it without opening it? And why does it only happen sometimes? Most of the time when I do that, the position shows right up. It's only sometimes that it just says "standard" and it keeps saying "standard" even if I close the file and open it again.
