MSDE is SQL Server lite. It is completly compatible with SQL Server but, if I remeber correctly, it has the following two important restrictions:
1. Maximum concurrent connections = 5
2. Maximum table size = 2GB
There are a lot of information about it on Microsoft's site but I can't point you to any directly. I will check early next week there are some good basic articles about it.
