I didn't say I read all 6 volumes, but it was extremely interesting and suspenseful.

Duly noted. BTW, my wife and I watched a p.d.james mystery on PBS tonight (on the series "Mystery"), which had as the evil character the same actor who plays the Senator in "Phantom Menace" and (did you recognize him...) the evil Emperor in that and later episodes.
