Hi Malcolm,
I've been there, and so have some fellow developers. One is stuck firmly in the rut!
The approach I took was (but isn't currently because I'm coping)
I'm going to work 20 hours of actual programming per week! That's it. So you put your rates up so that that will provide you with a decent income.
Keep the vision of what you would like firmly in mind at all times and it will just "happen". (Psychocybernetics - ugh - that looks the wrong spelling)
More than that, you will find yourself happily knocking back work and only doing the fun VFP stuff.
By the way thanks for giving everyone who's answered time to pause and reflect on their own status.

>I love to program, I love to figure things out, I love learning new things, and I love programming in VFP. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT THE DAY WOULD COME WHEN I'D GET SICK OF DOUBLE CLICKING THAT SMILEY FACED FOX ICON. It has!!

>Am I burnt out? No not me! NEVER! ... is what I used to feel. Is this a common thing amount programmers? What do you do when you don't feel like facing the FOX anymore?

>I can't just stop, so I force my self to open VFP ... the progress is now so slow it makes me even sicker: more of myself for feeling this way.
