What do you mean by API? Whose API, Windows?
Issue that you are addressing is exactly what I am killing myself this days.
There is no API for such thing, you have to provide certain structures to
hold Installed Printers, Printing Tasks, Layouts (frx) etc. and then to act uppon user request , by using those informations you can switch between printers, layouts etc.
If you hire of anything easy without doing all this things let me know,
I would like to see it as well.
