.........Don't worry about learning all these different languages. Just learn OOP, and when\if you want to switch, it will be easy.
I think this is probably good advice. I may rethink some of my learning schedule.

I pretty much understand that. Afterall there really is no other database language other than VFP... is there? :) However, it seems to me that Java will be needed for web work so that was/is my motivation.
I'm running into the same problem with VB. Nice language and not that difficult, at least so far, to learn. However, a database language it ain't. (sorry for the aint but I am from the south!)
The article that I refered too in my earlier post seems pretty sure of it's claim that Java will surpass VB for web stuff. How to wade through the hype and find reality is the problem.
I am finding the discussions on the UT helpful.
