>Like Royko said after the '69 season -- 2 things drive people to philosophy -- the inevitability of death and the Chicago Cubs.

Loved Royko. His passing was a great loss. Still have a bunch of his columns that I downloaded when he died.

>Ah well, the Chicago sports scene has been boosted since I've moved away. It's been great to see the Bulls play outstanding bball (even when they used to beat our Pacers) and the seasons of the Bears.

Well, with the exception of the Sox, everyone else seems to be struggling. Whoops...Sammy Sosa just tripled in 3 runs.

>But, there still is something about rooting for a club that hasn't won the world series since 1906. We have a minor league team here in Indy - that plays in a delightful stadium -- Victory Field. Reminds you of the youthful dream of making it -- playing for the love of the game.

Nope that was 1908. White Sox beat the Cubs in 06 (I think that's right). Know what you mean about minor league ball. Saw the Orlando Cubs a couple of years ago down in FL. Absolutely wonderful.

>That's a neat trick with the license plate! Go Cubs!

Cubs 8, Expos 5 bottom of the 5th.

>We've got some weather rolling in, so I'm going to wrap this up while it's still ASCII.

We've got some too. CU

>Take care. (And we haven't even gotten to Old Town, Second City, Mike Nichols and Elaine May!)

Will do, and you do the same.
George
