>We have an old FPD 2.6 application running on a 486SX WS, DOS 6.22 - Novell 5.0.

I would have to say it is the server communications with the workstation. Is DOS 6.22 even mentioned as supported in netware 5? Have you updated the client for the workstation? If so, switch it back.
