Im about to start work on an administrative application, basically I have an NT server with about 40 workstations attached all using a fairly complex suite of foxpro applications. Obviously with the data on the server.

Basically when everybody has gone home for the evening my admin program kicks in and carries out several tasks, backing up the odd reindex etc etc.

But I want it to be a bit more thorough as I may eventually want to put it on other sites. So it needs to be a bit more dynamic and able to "think for itself". I want it to be able to go away and instruc the applications of other machines to do things, for example exit the system, do a general system check, make sure its running the correct version of applications etc and then mail me or create a log file on the server etc.

Now, all our machines have file and print sharing enabled ie you can access them all from network neighbourhood. So of the things I need to do on these machines require a drive mapping (easy to do) but I cannot find out anywhere how to get a list of these machines into foxpro....a preset table is no good as it needs to be dynamic. Networks keep changing.

Anyone got any pointers. I imagine it could be quite an interesting project.

Cheers
