My cousin lived there for several years while her husband was stationed there. He's a training officer in the Royal Navy and was in Hong Kong to train local naval officers. They enjoyed living there (except for the worst of the summer weather) and found the people to be very friendly and kind. My nieces learned a lot about a different culture including how to speak some basic Chinese.

My understanding of it is a place with a fascinating history, and a fast-paced vibrant lifestyle. I hope that Chinese rule doesn't dampen that spirit.
