Let me throw my $.02 in here:

I really think they should have a DEFAULT SETTINGs that you can define as to how you want your Private DataSessions to inherit.

Maybe:

SET EXCLUSIVE OFF PRIVATE

This would remain separate from the SET EXCLUSIVE OFF that affects the Default (shared) DataSession. This should be available for all settings that are scoped to the DataSession.
