Nor do you want to use something like the old SPR, a rather bad invention.

Last year I was called in to help someone who had tried to update a 2.x app for Y2K. This was a complete newbie, there no longer being any FP staff around. Of course, the SPRs were very tempting code to update, so he spent considerable time on it.

You can guess the punch line - at some point he re-compiled, and lost all his work :)
