Also look on the Web for sites with information on Surfers Paradise, Noosa and the Gold Coast Hinterland. All of these places are within a couple of hours drive of Brisbane. There's also a number of Theme parks, such as Movie World on the Gold Coast & Sea World. You could also try to catch a game of Rugby League or Rugby Union in Brisbane.

The time you'll be in Brisbane is Winter but the weather should still be reasonably mild and sunny. The temperature there today is forecast to be 25 Centigrade, but I think the Winter temperatures can vary from the high teens to low/mid twenties Centigrade.
